Sustainability

Rural development is dependent on the use and management of existing and available natural resources. As such, the main objective should be to maximise outputs and generate income from natural resources use. However, it needs to be managed well and the processes must be sustainable from the ecological, economic and social perspectives.

 

Local competence

We put great effort in creating and developing solutions that stem from the local competency base. Utilizing and developing local resources, expertise, experience and capacity creates a steady and sustainable development with results going beyond the long-term.

 

Empowerment

We put the rural communities at the centre of the development process encouraging them to retain ownership of their own development and aiming towards empowerment. This is the way forward to achieve organised successful communities where both the individual’s development as well as the community’s development is in the people’s own hands.

 

Respect

We advocate for a human rights approach to development. This involves being aware of social distortions that might hamper development, such as political, gender and religious issues.
